Update Live Build 2017-04-25a

G'day Forts Fans! We are working hard behind the scenes to improve online play stability, with today's update bringing the following improvements.

Build 2017-04-25a

Fix: Crash when Multiplayer receives login_result message during inappropriate state
Fix: Invalid client reference being used when login_result doesn't find the client
Fix: Two desyncs when client joins in TDM and Co-op
Update: Multiplayer console debug text streamlined


Custom Maps

Steam Workshop integration is on the list of additions, but in the meantime, big thanks to community member MarkDey for putting together this guide on installing custom maps in Forts, complete with YouTube video.
NOTE: Players not having the same maps will cause a desync when joining a game.

Map Editor
Fix: Move & clean up the terrain debug info
Add: Key to bring the grid to the foreground (Shift + G)
Fix: Show block owners when Team 1 or 2

Fix: Crash when clicking next in campaign (potential fix)
Fix: 'Over-engineered' auto machine guns not working
Fix: 'Eastern Block" AI now behaves as intended.
Add: Setting to enumerate mouse pointers & input error checking
Fix: Mouse & keyboard re-acquired on main menu
Fix: Crash/desyncs while joining when a player connects and others loaded
Added a darkened panel to lobby select and chatroom.
Fix: Stalactites 4v4 - Vertices count reduced to help with frame rate.
Fix: Catacomb - Both sides can now add two mines per slot.
Fix: Pillars - Both sides can now add two mines per slot.
Fix: Client state sync & potential desync issues
Show warning if a player doesn't have a particular map
Fix: Use SteamUser::BLoggedOn instead of Friends online status


Campaign Crash

We're having difficulty reproducing the Campaign crash bug that occurs when pressing 'Next' after a campaign mission. If anyone is still experiencing this crash please copy your Crash dump files into this Dropbox folder. This would help us no end.

Introducing Commanders

Commander characters are a new feature for Forts, available in multiplayer and skirmish modes. Each of the nine Commanders have passive abilities, active throughout the battle, and a powerful dynamic ability which, once charged, can change the tide of battle. Eagle Eye - Eagle Empire

Passive Abilities
  • Laser sights - Snipers are fitted with adjustable laser sights.
  • Increased accuracy - Machine Gun and Minigun spread is reduced.
  • Bigger magazines - Machine Gun and Miniguns magazines capacity increased

Dynamic Ability
  • Explosive bullets - Snipers, Machine Gun and Miniguns fire devastating bursts of explosive shells.

Architect - Dragon Army

Passive Abilities
  • Cheap materials - Fort building materials have a reduced cost.
  • Higher storage capacity - Batteries and Metal Stores enjoy increased capacity.

Dynamic Ability
  • 4x build speed - Weapons, devices and structures build at 400% normal rate.

Armourdillo - Iron Bear Alliance

Passive Abilities
  • Cheap Armour - Armour and Doors are less expensive to build.
  • Quick open Doors - Doors open and shut at twice normal rate.

Dynamic Ability
  • Rapid Repair - Weapons, devices and structures are repaired at an increased rate, and for half normal cost.
